In November 99 artists Kathrin Böhm & Stefan Saffer were invited by Georgia Ward, the public art coordinator at North Kensington Amenity Trust (NKAT), to propose a temporrary project for the Trust land underneath the Westway flyover in NorthLondon.
From December 99 on Andreas Lang got involved to create a stronger link between an art project and architectural and urban issues.
The Art for Architecture Award by the RSA certainly pushed the whole development of Mobile Porch and the Year of the Artist Award by London Arts Board secured the residency on site. Carolina Bartram and Anton Sawicki from Whitby Bird& Partners took the first drawings further into the construction process and Brilliant Stages is manufactoring Mobile Porch.
